Advantages of Hydroponic Farming

Extremely Environmentally Friendly:

By not using traditional soil-based methods, soil borne diseases such as E Coli and other bacteria are eliminated, as are most of the pests typically seen in soil-based farms, drastically reducing the need for herbicides and pesticides.

In addition, the water and nutrient solution is fed to each stacker through the use of a drip system that allows just the right amount of solution to be fed through to each plant, significantly reducing water use.  In fact, growing hydroponically reduces water usage by 80-85%. And because the drip system is so closely regulated, when the final pot on the bottom is watered, there is virtually no “run-off” on the ground.

Rows of StrawberriesOur produce is grown in a stacked growing system, which allows for many plants to grow in a space traditionally used for one plant.  Four to five times as much product can be grown vertically per acre as compared to ground surface farming.

Hydroponics is quickly becoming the most environmentally sound form of farming today.

Fun, Family Friendly U-Pick Environment:

Because we have a much higher yield in a much smaller area than a conventional farm, the process of hand-selecting your produce is much less labor intensive.  The design of the stackers provides an experience that requires no kneeling, no bending and access to twenty plants in one plant location.

The nature of the growing system means that we can harvest fruit for several weeks longer than a traditional farm without losing the taste or nutritional value.  The high level of vitamin and mineral content is consistent throughout our growing period.
